THe Mystery to Be Solved
Happening on March 15, 1977 the kidnapping of Douglas Mueller was an unknown mystery and still is today.
Douglas Mueller had just finished his shift at a Whiting Brothers gas station
just before he had been reported kidnapped. After failing to return home, a few
days later Douglas Mueller's parents received an anonymous phone call
stating a time at which they should go to a pay phone. When they reached
the location that was given, inside was a ransom note of 50,000$ and
Douglas Mueller's driver's license. The note was of Douglas Mueller's
penmanship which meant that he was still alive. After paying the money
and leaving it at the location they got three more calls that also had a
ransom note with 50,000$. Even after, time after time they paid the ransom
note, the money was never picked up. Soon Douglas Mueller's car was found
at a Phoenix Airport.Nothing suspicious was found inside the car except the
question of how the car got there.
About 30 years later of the kidnaping, a femur bone was found in a Scottsdale
community by a person taking a jog. When a local detective named Hugh Lockerby
heard about the discovery, he took the bone to the Scottsdale Police Department.
After many test the Department didn't know who the bone belonged to until Hugh
Locker contacted the Douglas Mueller family. Eventually the Department was
able to get the DNA of Douglas Mueller's parents, Larry and Beverly. When the DNA
was a match the case was reopened and given to Hugh Lockerby."Case solved? far
from it. But suddenly this case ain't cold anymore." stated Hugh Lockerby on an Arizona
news broadcast.
